Lee Marie

In 1987, fresh out of college from Moorehead State University, in Minnesota, I started out as an Elementary Educator of 32 first grade students at Our Lady of Unity in KC, KS. In 1989, I ventured off to Livingston, MT and taught at Pine Creek School in Paradise Valley. As the story goes, Robert Redford and I made eye contact one day outside of the post office as I was mailing in a water sample and he was filming, A River Runs Through it. Back in Kansas, I taught 5th-6th Math and Science at Queen of the Holy Rosary off of 71st and Metcalf. I spent the next 16 years as a facilitator in Middle School Science at Notre Dame de Sion Lower Campus, Sacred Heart Academy in Shawnee, KS and St. Paul's Episcopal Day School off of Main Street in KC, MO. I had already taught in private, parochial, and public schools, so I decided to venture on to Charter Schools. I spent 4 years at Crossroads Academy and then one year at Hogan Prep in 5th grade Math and Science. It was at these Charter Schools where I really invested my own personal learning into student/teacher relationships and grew to believe in the absolute value of these relationships. During the years at Sacred Heart to Hogan Prep I was an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary University. It was an honor to share my experiences and constructivist beliefs with future educators. I am, and will always be, a Piaget Theorist Educator. In 2019 I took on the role of STREAM Director at Holy Rosary Wea. It is here where I worked for the diocese of KC ,KS once again, but was also employed under Brown Family Foundation. After 3 years at Wea and 36 years as an educator, I hung up my hat and retired. As blessings go, Dr. Jo Weller and Mike and Millie Brown entered back into my life and offered me a part-time position at BFFKC as a Science, PBL, and STREAM consultant. I am now in my second year, on my own, as an educational consultant.
